The 'Blind as a Peacock' Line!

In general creating a new line of jewelry after the holidays can be a bit daunting. After having spent about 8 weeks feeling like one of Santa's most diligent elves it seems that the creative muse up and leaves for some R&R at a spa and I'm not invited. But alas, the sparkly trinkets still need to be made and I'm the only one left in the workshop! Searching for inspiration I turned to Mother Nature, per usual, cuz she has way better taste than I do, and my eyes settled upon a peacock feather. Perfect, I thought, my colors are chosen for me. Then I began to create. After a couple of pieces I started to become a bit dubious of what I was making and wondered if I had jinxed myself naming the line after a peacock given the old adage, 'Blind as a Peacock'. But then Little Miss Muse, apparently refreshed from her colonics and chemical peels, decided to grace me with her presence. Upon her return she 'Dope Slapped' me in the head and reminded me that it's 'Blind as a Bat' not 'Peacock' ya ding-dong. (She actually said that!) Oh that saucy minx of a muse gave me some lovely ideas and now yes indeed we are both 'Proud as Peacocks'!

I spent Christmas in The Caribbean once...in the 8th grade! But ah yes, it was lovely: warm breezes, palm trees, sunshine. But let's face it-I'm a Colorado girl through and through and I love winter and a nice cozy Christmas. However, every now and then I long for those tropical delights but they seem to elude me. So this year I've harkened the essence of the Caribbean with brushed gold, Peruvian opals, Turquoise and Aquamarine! Think I'll don a pair of these earrings and make myself an umbrella drink! Oh cabana boy...

As I made this line I could taste the different berries just bursting in my mouth but truth be told I actually wanted to call it 'The Carnival Bruise Line' because let's face it...those colors are also the colors of a good ol' shiner! I didn't think too many people would be inspired to wear jewelry seemingly inspired by bruises thus the name 'BerryLuscious' was born. But alas, I do believe this was a case of 'Life imitating Art' because the day after I put this line in the shop I had a pretty ugly bike crash. Now my face and the left side of my body are indeed 'A Carnival Bruise Line' and match my jewelry perfectly. They'll look pretty on you too...even if you don't have a bruise to match!

Om Mani Padme Hum

The pieces in this collection were inspired by the incredible coins from Tibet, Ethiopia and Afghanistan. As I created many of the pieces the classic Tibetan chant of 'Om Mani Padme Hum' kept going through my head! I was then reminded that Mani actually translates as 'the jewel' so the name for the collection was born. I hope you find the peace and serenity of meditation when wearing any of these pieces.
